Today is International Women’s Day! In recognition, we’d like to highlight the significant contributions of the remarkable women working on the Gordie Howe International Bridge project. Women hold roles in all of WDBA’s office departments including engineering, property acquisition, finance, human resources, legal, procurement and communications.

The 2018 International Women’s Day campaign theme is #PressforProgress. Here at WDBA we are doing just that as we work towards delivering the largest infrastructure project along the Canada-US border. Working in the construction industry, WDBA is proud to have an organization with women holding 46% of roles and gender parity on the Board of Directors.

Women working on the Gordie Howe International Bridge play a valuable role in every aspect of the day-to-day operations of the project from engineering, human resources, government relations and communications to onsite construction.  Their contributions and hard work are a crucial component to the success of this once-in-a-generation undertaking. 

Gordie Howe International Bridge workers recognized for lifesaving actions

In November 2023, two Gordie Howe International Bridge workers rescued four members of the public from a capsized boat in the frigid waters of the Detroit River. Now, their life-saving efforts are being recognized with Fluor’s Silver Medallion of Safety.
